Hello, my name is Nicole Norton! This is my 24th year of teaching! Of those 24 years I have spent 15 years in Second Grade. Previous to becoming a Second Grade Teacher I have teaching experience in Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, and Fifth as well! I started my official educational experience on the Island at Marshall Elementary School many years ago when it was still a K-8 school, then I attended and graduated from Madison High School, after that I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University, my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Montreat College, and my Educational Specialist Degree in Administration/Leadership in Education from Lincoln Memorial University. I received the Teacher of the Year Award for Brush Creek Elementary and Madison County in 2005.
I am married to Steve Norton and we live in the Bear Creek Community. We enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, golfing, riding our bicycles on Edisto Island, going to church, reading, and writing! We also enjoy eating out and spending time with family. We currently have two Beagle dogs (Pogo and McGee), one adorable kitty named Dooney, two horses named Mr. Buttercup and Blondie, and a rabbit called Shaggy Maggy. Our animals keep us very busy at home!
Second Grade is full of energy, curiosity, and learning! We look forward to each and every day of new experiences and discoveries! We work with wonderful staff and students. We have an amazing outdoor learning classroom and trails. On these trails we may encounter an apple orchard, blue bird habitats, and a butterfly sanctuary...just to name a few. We have an awesome campus here at Brush Creek! We hope you come to love our campus, our people, and our community as much as we do!
